This season, several shows will be held at the Verde office complex, recognized as the most eco-oriented architectural project in Riga. Sustainability principles are increasingly reflected in the collections presented at Riga Fashion Week. This season, a significant number of brands focus on high-quality, long-lasting materials, prioritize responsible production practices, and implement more environmentally friendly packaging solutions.
“For me, sustainability in fashion begins with respect for the material and the quality of the garment. When clothing is made from good materials and thoughtfully designed to last, it ceases to be disposable and becomes a part of one’s wardrobe for years,” says designer Anna Kruz.
“More and more industries are improving their approach to sustainability, and fashion is no exception. For Verde, it is important to support initiatives that highlight this topic and make it part of a broader public discussion,” comments Iveta Ardava, Commercial Director of Verde.
It is worth noting that the Verde office complex has received several professional awards in the field of sustainable architecture, including “The Most Sustainable Building 2025”. The first shows of the current Riga Fashion Week season will take place here on April 15.
The sustainability agenda will also be the focus of a dedicated discussion titled “Sustainable Fashion: a Niche or the Future?”, led by Patriks Kirkils, co-founder of the sustainable fashion community “Bourzma.” The discussion will address responsible production, material choices, and the role of green practices in shaping the modern fashion industry. Participation is available upon prior registration.
“Just a few years ago, sustainable fashion was often seen as a niche. Today, the situation is changing: more designers are thinking about the origin of materials, garment durability, and responsible production. Gradually, this is becoming the new norm for the industry. That’s why it’s important to discuss these processes openly and involve both professionals and a wider audience,” says Patriks.
A separate part of the sustainability-focused program will take place at the Treimane Studio pop-up space, located at 2 Krišjāņa Barona Street. On April 15, the eco-brand will present its collection there, followed by an evening party open to all. In the following days, the space will host hands-on events: on April 16, workshops on creating decorative accessories for bags will be held, with participation available upon prior registration.
The main partners of Riga Fashion Week include Livland, the State Culture Capital Foundation, the Riga City Council, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, and Live Riga.
