The program of the 36th Riga Fashion Week: features new technologies in clothing combined with handwork, a return to the 2000s, and an eco-agenda

The trend towards sustainable development continues to gain momentum.

The RIGA FASHION WEEK, which will take place from April 18th to 21st this season, is also focusing on sustainability and ethics — in new collections and educational seminars. More than 15 brands have been announced for the upcoming RFW session, including debutants, international eco-brands, and local industry giants.

Focusing on sustainability, the opening of RFW will be marked by an international educational seminar "Sustainable Fashion: Stereotypes and Reality #2", with registration required. Expanding the educational part of the Week's program, on the same day there will be a screening of the film and lecture "Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist" (2018), as well as lectures on fashion at the Riga Fashion Museum.

Latvian brands believe that sustainability and fashion should not be mutually exclusive. This trend is evident not only in collections but also in collaborations. The design brand of boudoir fashion, Amoralle, in collaboration with handmade headwear brand Ksenia Danilova, has prepared a 3D project that required minimal material costs. One Wolf is betting on denim this season, Slow Beachwear is focusing on the durability of swimwear, and Lithuanian debutant Mild Power is actively using residual materials in their collection.

On the main catwalk of the capital, the latest trends will be demonstrated by brands that have already firmly established themselves in the Baltic countries, such as Ivo Nikkolo and Diana Arno (Estonia), Natalija Jansone, Iveta Vecmane, and Volga Vintage (all from Latvia). In addition to the aforementioned Baltic designers, foreign fashion brands will also be represented this season, including Szczygiel (Poland) and Moel Bosh (Uzbekistan). The local debutant of the season is the designer of the eponymous brand, Guna Nebare. Trends in children's fashion will be presented by Paade Mode and Rock and Mouse. Inspired by the eco-grunge style and the aesthetics of the 90s, the designer of the Anna Led brand has prepared a presentation in her studio.

As part of the collaboration between recognized Latvian designers and the Stockmann department store, a special show featuring Nolo, Anna Led, Unattached, and Cinnamon Concept will take place on the main RFW catwalk. The show is being prepared by Sintija Selicka, one of Latvia's leading stylists and fashion bloggers. Details will be released in our next press releases.

The Riga Fashion Week will conclude with a party in the Andrejsala Quarter.
